Who are Blah&Zay?

Zay is a 3000 year old vampire doing his best to enjoy the little things in the world. Blah is his bond spirit. Not much is known about Blah. Blah is trying to learn about life from Zay, as the vampire still has more of a human nature.

But there’s more…

Zay is absolutely fed up with humanity’s destructive activities and is genuinely not impressed. However, he still finds joy in the world and the little things in his oh-so-very-long life: Small pleasures, such as shade on a hot summer day, an afternoon nap, or a cosy suit when it’s cold outside. Blah is a spirit tethered to Zay. Nobody knows how old he or she (it’s unclear which) is or where they come from—even Blah doesn’t know!

Zay is way more human than Blah, so he tries to teach his spirit how to enjoy life and navigate this human world, even when this world makes no sense at all—sometimes it’s better to be completely blasé about things.

The characters came to me while in Tokyo, June 2025, when I was thinking about what characters I’d make if I were to create my own collective toys blind box.
